Undergrad Update

The Lambda Lambda chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity had an eventful 2018 spring semester. They welcomed in a pledge class of nineteen new brothers, eighteen of whom are freshman and one a sophomore. The chapter also achieved one of their best semesters academically as they finished up their first full year of the Scholarship Cup, a competition within the fraternity consisting of teams made up of brothers who are the same classes. The idea behind the cup is that brothers will study and work together based on their classes. At the end of the semester points are awarded to each team and at the end of the year, the team with the most points wins and is rewarded by a reduction of dues the following semester.

The executive council of the chapter will be headed to New Orleans, Louisiana this summer for the annual Kappa Sigma National Leadership Conference. Zachary Serotte was also selected to attend the conference after being selected by Nationals to help organize and run the event.

In philanthropy efforts this past semester, the chapter participated in several events run by sororities of the school that each benefited it’s own charity. The first event we participated in was the Alpha Xi Delta volleyball event that benefited the Autism Speaks Foundation. It was an overall strong showing on behalf of the fraternity as we had two teams participate and compete with other fraternities.

The chapter also participated in was Zeta Tau Alpha’s Big Man on Campus which benefits cancer education and awareness. The chapter placed third in the talent show and was able to raise more than three hundred dollars to donate towards the cause. Finally, at the end of the semester the chapter participated and won the Frats at Bat competition which benefits the children’s miracle network and is hosted by Phi Mu.

Calling All Former Grandmasters

We will be recognizing all former grand masters of the Chapter on Friday night. If you served in this capacity please make every effort to attend. This is a big year for our chapter and a wonderful time to celebrate together.

Photos Needed of the House

King White is asking for your old pics of the fraternity houses. To date, the greatest need: photos of Practice and Loy. Additional images of Neese are still welcome. He needs 'exterior' shots that serve to portray each structure's signature architectural lines. Please contact King on Facebook via email jkingwhite@gmail.com
