Lambda-Lambda Chapter Wins Coveted "FACE" Honor

The "Founders Award of Chapter Excellence" (FACE) recognizes Kappa Sigma International Fraternity's "best of the best" at the undergraduate chapter level. At the awards banquet of the East Leadership Conference held in Richmond, VA on Saturday evening, the Kappa Sigma International Fraternity named Lambda-Lambda Chapter a winner of the FACE award. Kappa Sigma Worthy Grand Master of Ceremonies Christian Nascimento (who will be on hand to help us celebrate our 35th Anniversary reunion during Homecoming Weekend) presented the award to undergraduate chapter GM Jim Frisch.

'FACE' is the second highest award that can be gained by any chapter of Kappa Sigma. This year, just 29 of 200+ chapters around the world received this prestigious award. Quite literally, our Lambda-Lambda Chapter ranked among Kappa Sigma’s finest this year, and this is a tremendous accomplishment.

When officials consider potential chapter honorees, all areas of Chapter operations are measured with specific point criteria. Presentation of such an award means that the Chapter’s operations are solid and that the chapter succeeds in all areas of Fellowship, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service.

This honor represents the culmination of years of steady progress by our undergraduate chapter and is a result of tireless efforts by undergraduate members working in conjunction with volunteer alumni.

A FACE award is a benchmark honor within the Kappa Sigma International Fraternity. It must be noted that this is the first time in over over two decades that our chapter has won such a prestigious award.

(Editors note: What was once known as the 'Top Ten Chapter' Award is a comparable honor. According to archival records on file at the fraternity's international headquarters in Charlottesville, Lambda-Lambda Chapter was named a 'Top Ten Chapter' several consecutive years in the 1980s.)

The Lambda-Lambda Alumni Association salutes chapter GM Jim Frisch, his Executive Committee, and the entire undergraduate chapter for this impressive and wholly well-deserved honor. Indeed, this represents yet another shining moment in our proud history on the Elon University campus.

Note: On August 4, a press release about this honor was published in the Elon University "E-net!", an electronic publication sent to alumni, parents and members of the university community. To see the story, click here.
